Tombolini F/W ´14

Double-breasted overcoats, turtleneck sweaters, shades of blue and grey, light weight construction & soft tailoring. In terms of the upcoming fall Italian Tombolini keeps the collection mainly plain and simple - making it interesting by variating fabric choices, patterns and textures. All in all the look the look book is a good example of “playing simple” with classic elements of menswear - still keeping the look fresh and interesting. Especially some good examples how to include roll neck sweaters to your business wardrobe and how to make them work. For more pictures of the collection check also the review from Pitti Uomo 85. Tombolini F/W ´14 @ Pitti Uomo

As usual, Italian Tombolini had came up with one of the most comprehensive collections covering not only business, formal, casual or some "trendy" parts of their line-up at the booth but the whole selection in a very compatible way. For next F/W season there’s also a bit more hints of sportiness added to the elements of the selection. Though for the display this time they had dropped a part of the more casual stuff, keeping the coverige of the “Flying” and “Dream” line fairly small and concentrating more to the business side of the collection, which still was implemented by using interesting fabric choices, textures & patterns (as the bold checks seen in the pictures) and lightweight constructions. As a...

Tombolini F/W 2013

The company founded in 1964 by Eugenio Tombolini and today run by his daughter Fiorella Tombolini wants by their own words to represent the taste and passion for what can be described beautiful and they want to combine old artisanal expertise to uptodate luxury. What really pleases me (and is shown also in the collection for the season) is the complete way of styling and tailoring Tombolini covers the whole package from the classic business clothing till the more relaxed and laid-back casual wear. The lightness is the main concept especially for the Tombolini "Zero Gravity" line that features both full suits and jackets with fabrics such as soft silks and wools that are extra light (weight in grams so light that you could say...

Sauma - getting ready for the fall and winter

Last week I wrote shortly about the mtm-days going on at Sauma (see it here) and as mentioned took also a glimpse of their range for this season. In addition to Montecore, Tombolini, Cavaliere, Gran Sasso, Berwich, John Smedley and others, for this season they also got Italian Tagliatore as a new brand to the selection.  Generally speaking I’d say that in terms of both the whole selection and individual pieces, Sauma has really come up with a nice assortment for this season, maybe even the best I’ve seen in the store so far, even though they were still last week waiting for some outerwear additions by Tombolini and Tagliatore as well as some knitwear from Gran Sasso. Subtle mini...
