One Pitti Uomo again behind. Last week we had four busy, yet sensuous days in Florence. Then a couple of relaxing days in Milan. More detailed reviews and thoughts are coming up later. But before that as a Friday inspiration a short sneak peek to what I wore for the days in Florence.

The week in Italy was busy as have been this week as I got back to work. Therefore it has taken a while to come up with these updates. And I will also try to get back on track with regular posting next week.

A good old-fashioned portrait from the third day of the fair.

I decided to wear a full suit for each of the days I visited the fair. For the fourth day I was planning to wear something more casual such as leather jacket with roll neck, suit trousers and sneakers. But as we headed to Milan early on Friday morning, there is no pictures from that day.

Day 1

On the first day I wanted to play with shades of brown. I wore my new suit from Herrainpukimo made of brown herringbone Holland & Sherry wool. I paired the suit with a shirt featuring thin brown stripes and the brown DLA shantung silk tie. The shoes are not visible in the pictures but there I also opted for brown color and wore my calf leather adelaide oxfords by Crockett&Jones. Finally I chose the Symposium pocket square to bring just a little pop of burgundy and blue color to finalize the look.

In terms of overcoat I opted for a casual Barbour Bedale SL in olive green / sage color. In principle, the Bedale SL as most of Barbour jackets is essentially casual. But I personally think that the jacket also work as part of more dressed-up combinations. And therefore I wanted to pair it with my brown suit and the orange wool-silk scarf. And one of the good features of this jacket is that it is also easy to take off and put into your bag while you are strolling around the fair.

Day 2

The theme for the second day was gray. A gray suit with gray DLA wool tie, black calf leather tassel loafers and black/white wool-silk scarf with nice tiger print. Again the Kullervo pocket square was basically the only thing bringing in a little splash of color. The suit I wore is a bit different than many other of my suit as it features wide peak lapels and only one button buttoning. In my opinion perfectly restrained but still personal and distinctive choice.

The weather in Florence was this time quite cold. Despite that I did not wore an overcoat for the second day. If I had done that my choice would have been the red shawl collar casentino coat by The GIGI which I mostly wore during the evenings as the weather got even colder.

Day 3

The third day was this time the last day for us at Pitti Uomo. And for Thursday I also got my spouse to join the fair. For the day I chose to build my outfit around the third main color – blue. I wore a blue mtm-suit by Vaatturiliike Sauma, white shirt, navy blue DLA grenadine tie and the Defense of Sampo pocket square. The shoes were also blue, my made-to-order single monks by Alfred Sargent.

In terms of outerwear I opted for the brown herringbone wool overcoat by Sand. This time I also took the detachable fur collar and attached it to the coat. As you can see, a fur collar is an easy way to update your old overcoat. And I can tell you that fur seemed to be kind of a trend this year as I wasn’t the only one wearing fur collars.

I will continue reporting from the fair during the weekend. I will post a short coverage of the best street style photos and outfits I have come up with. And next week I will post more detailed reviews of what I wore and why.
