This accessory is more than just a pocket square: it represents one of the most inspiring pieces of Finnish art and is made in Italy with hand rolled edges. Lightweight wool-silk fabric makes this pocket square appropriate to wear year-round, from rainy and dark fall evenings to sunny summer days.

The restrained colors, soft handfeel, and beautiful, iconic art print make it the perfect finish for any outfit. Saturated, orange shades and lightweight wool-silk fabric allow it to be combined with more formal wool suits as well as with casual tweed and cotton sport coats.

The story

Kullervo is one of the tragic figures of the Kalevala. In Finnish visual arts Kullervo is represented as a simple shepherd boy as well as a tragic hero of classical European standing. In this scene Kullervo stands after he has been freed from slavery. He calls the beasts - cattle, bears, wolves and lynxes - to kill his wife. After his family have been killed, he also kills himself. There is just something very epic and Finnish in this story.

The Kullerco herding his Flocks is a water color painting completed by Finnish painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela in 1917. The painting illustrates a passage from the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic compiled by Elias Lönnrot in the 19th century. The original painting hangs in the Ateneum Museum in Helsinki.

How to wear the Kullervo pocket square:

The key to the DLA pocket squares is their versatility. Featuring shades of blue, brown, orange and yellow, this square helps you to achieve the perfect daily outfit. From wintry business occasions to relaxed casual weekends, this square will be an excellent finishing touch. Wear it with a classic light gray suit, brown tie, white shirt and brown cap-toe oxfords. Or pair it with a rustic brown wool jacket, denim shirt, blue tie, jeans and suede chukka boots.
