Every man needs a fragrance. Some even two or more. Starting the week with a closer of look my new fragrance, Ginepro di Sardegna scent from the Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo collection.
Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo
In terms of men’s fragrance brands Acqua di Parma is probably one of the most famous and well-known. The Italian lifestyle company was founded in 1916. In addition to fragrances they produce for example skincare products, candles and leather accessories. All of its ranges are exclusively made in Italy. And from the range one can for sure find a fragrance for every taste. For those who are fond of a bit more light fragrances I suggest to take a look at company’s Blu Mediterraneo range. The Blu Mediterraneo is a line of seven different fragrances. According to the company it combines the energy, sun and colors of the Italian Mediterranean.
Blu Mediterraneo – Ginepro di Sardegna
“Sardinia. A natural icon that encompasses all of the unique beauty of the Italian Mediterranean. The unique scent of fragrant maquis is perfectly captured in this energetic fragrance.” That’s how the company describes the scent Ginepro di Sardegna. One of the fragrances in Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo line-up.
The fragrance opens its composition with a blend of red juniper berries and several sorts of pepper – black pepper and Jamaican pepper, adding characteristic shades of nutmeg and refreshing bergamot drops. The perfume is dynamic and vigorous from the very beginning, creating harmony of notes bringing breezes from Sardinia. The heart adds an aromatic union of sage and cypress resting in shade of Virginia cedar. Elegant and sophisticated woody notes close the composition perfectly with warm and gentle balmy effect.
I have been keeping my eye on Acqua di Parma fragrances for quite a while. Until this spring I did not have any personal experience of their products though. But after Sauma took the brand to their selection I decided to give it a try. Partly also as I ran out one of my old parfumes. In the beginning of April I bought my first Acqua Parma fragrance as an early birthday gift to myself. After testing a couple of scents for a while I ended up choosing the Ginepro di Sardegna. In principle the fragrance is unisex. However I personally consider it to be quite masculine. Though maybe this could work as a scent for a purposive business woman.
The first thing you in fact notice is the pepper and the bergamot. Therefore it could be said that Ginepro di Sardegna is a good choice for those morning when you feel a bit tired. It’s not really a fresh scent but it wakes you up. It could be described as energetic. And although Ginepro di Sardegna is by description an Eau de Toilette, it kind of behaves like a robust Eau de Parfum. The longevity of the fragrance is in my opinion good. In fact is broadcasts a respectable sillage through the day. After the first hour the fragrance turns into musky and sweet. Finally the sage and cedarwood are clearly displayed.
I like this fragrance. I also like the aesthetics and look of the bottle. Even though it is at its best when worn during sunny summer days I personally consider it appropriate to be used around the year. It is also versatile. In my opinion Ginepro di Sardegna is suitable to complement many different kind of outfits. First of all you can wear it to work with a dark blue wool suit and brown grenadine tie. On the other hand you can apply it before heading to the city wearing shorts, sneakers and button-up shirt with rolled-up sleeves. To put it short, this will definitely be my go-to fragrance this summer.
Sum up – How to use your fragrance
I have wrote earlier about finding the right fragrance. In that post I also handled the question what you should do after you have acquired that scent you were looking for. How to storage your fragrances and how to apply them. I suggest you to read the original post but here are shortly three steps to keep in mind.
- Fragrances are quite sensitive to light and heat. Keep you fragrances in some place that is dry and cool. At least try to avoid to storage them at places where they will be exposed to direct sunlight.
- Some fragrances require a bit bigger amount of applying and some require less. If you are not sure, I recommend rather to apply a little too little than taking the risk of too vigorous use. If you feel that the fragrance is evaporating too quickly, change the scent and try to find something longer lasting instead of spraying recklessly the one you have.
- Best way of how to apply the fragrance is up to you to yourself. However I advise to spray the scent about from 10cm distance of your body directly to those points you want to apply it. Always apply the scent so that it gets contact with your body – not to your clothes.
