A couple of days ago days I wrote about
windowpane suits and their suitability for business wear. As a little weekend inspiration I decided to pick three different windowpane options for a closer look. In case you are looking for a new suit, here are three possible choices to check out. All appropriate for a bit different kind of occasions and purposes.
Gray windowpane suit for everyday work occasions
In terms of business wear light gray is one of the most safe choices. It is not as formal as dark blue or dark gray but for normal office hours it is always appropriate. This particular gray suit is made from a blend of wool, silk and linen by Carlo Barbera. Therefore it is suitable to be used almost around the year.
If you want to play safe combine the suit with a white spread collar shirt and blue grenadine tie as done in the picture. If you want to dress down the suit a little bit, try a chambray shirt and shantung tie for example. For those cold spring days pair the suit with burgundy roll neck sweater.
Light brown linen suit for summer parties
Summer keeps coming. This light brown linen suit is a refined option for the upcoming season. Due to patch pockets, soft shoulders and Ormezzano linen the suit is in principle appropriate especially for more casual and relaxed occasions. But I dare to claim that combined with a well-fitting shirt and tie one can wear it at work without a doubt. For those most formal business negotiations I would still choose another option.
For after work occasions and cocktail parties combine the suit with a denim shirt and some brown suede loafers. And leave socks home.
Double-breasted blue suit for formal business meetings
There are windowpane suits that are made for more casual occasions. And there there are windowpane suits that will take you through whatever negotiations you have scheduled. In case you want a business appropriate windowpane suit my suggestion is to go for blue color. And my other recommendation is go for a double-breasted option. As Gianni Agnelli said: "Checks suit a man who marches to his own drummer". This suit is made for that kind of guys.
To get the best out of this suit pair it with white shirt and gray cashmere or wool tie. Take your black oxford shoes from the closet and give them a proper polish. Finally put a white linen pocket square to your breast pocket featuring classic and simple tv-fold. And you are all set for your meetings.
All suits are available at
Suitsupply at the moment.
