"How to combine casual footwear part III" - black tassel loafers

I start this week with the third part of short "series" how to combine casual footwear. These features have included three sets of different kind of loafers from French shoemaker Bexley. In this last part I take a closer look of a pair of black tassel loafers. Some might claim that it's not right to talk about "casual footwear" when the pair in hand is in fact a pair of black calf leather tassel loafers. Actually the pair in question is presented in the "dress shoe"-category at Bexleys website as well. But that's not all they are.

Black tassel loafers - versatile choice for business and casual

Despite the fact that black tassel loafers  in general are a perfect choice for a classic business look, they are much more. You can wear them with a navy blue lightweight flannel suit and a tie - no doubt. But still this kind of a shoe is much more versatile than you might think in the first place. They are an appropriate choice also for more casual combinations. In my opinion you can even wear them with jeans. And here I give you an example of how to do that.

When I got the chance to try some of the pairs from Bexley, I decided to go for the casual options from their selection. However, as my rotation was missing a pair of tassel loafers made of calf leather, I opted for a pair of their Piccadilly loafers. The pair is goodyear-welted, leather lined and feature leather insoles & outsoles. The last could be described as "British". It features round-toe which is not  too aggressive or pointy and therefore makes them easy to wear in formal occasions. But on the other hand it is not too bulky and maintains the possibility to wear the shoes also with more slim-fitted and casual trousers.

Black tassel loafers with denim

I received the pair in the middle of summer. Since that the denim jeans you see in the pictures is probably the one I have been wearing most often with these shoes.  I have combined them with a light-blue button-up and a sport coat or just for example with a white crispy t-shirt. But as the weather is getting a bit colder, I needed to wear an extra layer.

The shots here were taken last the weekend as we were just strolling around the city. This combination is also an example of dressing up on a lower budget. I dare to claim that the total cost of this outfit does not exceed 300 euros. Sport coat is from Massimo Dutti (bought during sales a couple of season ago) and the merino wool roll neck sweater from SuitSupply. The light colored jeans I have bought from Weekday and the pocket square is from the Tie Bar. And finally, the shoes naturally are from Bexley. image
