Christmas inspiration - Christian Kimber "The Passport"-lookbook

Yesterday was the darkest day of the year. Therefore it is good time to find inspiration from down under. Today taking a look at beaches of Australia where there is much more light and sun at the moment. This time the inspiration comes in a form of a look book by my dear friend, talented Christian Kimber. A few weeks ago Christian launched the look book showcasing his new Passport-collection. The photos of the look book were taken by Sebastian Petrovski, a Melbourne photographer at Jan Juc Surf Beach in Melbourne. The shots are modelled by Melbourne based artist Tre Samuels.

Passport collection - inspired by beaches of Australia

I have shortly wrote about the Passport collection earlier. The collection includes 4 different sneaker models and 4 different models of other footwear. According to Christian the vision behind collection is that each handcrafted pair of shoes can translate seamlessly into any environment. The idea of the collection is to create a versatile selection that would work no matter what you wear.

In terms of inspiration and background the collection is based on colors and shapes of the surf beaches of Australia. Specifically Byron Bay and Lorne. Therefore the look book is created to show the colors and patterns directly in the environment in which they were inspired by. As Christian tells himself every pair has a story. And every detail has a purpose. Therefore designs have a soul beyond the quality and construction. They were created with inspiration and meaning.

The sneakers are all crafted in Italy near Florence in the heart of Tuscany. Sneakers are made by using Italian leathers and suede, all of which are hand-cut. All the sneakers also have 100% calf leather lining throughout and structural padding to maintain their shape over time. According to Christian this makes them also feel incredible. In addition the sneakers have athletic technical insoles to ensure lasting comfort.

Casual Christmas inspiration

For many - myself included - today is the day at work before Christmas holidays. I know many like to celebrate Christmas by dressing-up, having dinner and keeping the traditions formal. However Christmas holidays is also good time to relax a little bit. Therefore I have come up with a collage for those more casual days and occasions. Going casual does not however mean you should be sloppy and not pay attention to what you wear. Remember that relaxed can still be chic.
