DLA - October inspiration

As it’s already October one can say that the fall is eventually now here and winter is starting to be pretty near. Days are getting shorter and the amount of light decreases significantly. On the other hand it means that one can get the overcoats and more heavier suits & sport coats from the closet and start to play with layers again.

Starting the week with a few things and pics that I’m personally inspired by and enthusiastic at the moment.

When it comes to ties one can pretty easily go with basic rotation of silk ties (including knit ties, grenadines and shantung for example) through the year. But having some seasonal additions is a good and easy way to make the selection a bit more lively and interesting. As the fall goes on, most of my rotation will consist of different kind of wools such as flannel, wool x silk-blends and of course cashmere. Read more about Seasonal ties from here. Pictured above are some beautiful herringbone patterned wool options by Drake’s London.

In the beginning of September we had a photo-shoot for tyylit.fi in collaboration with Vaatturiliike Sauma and My O My from Helsinki. The first ever tyylit.fi-editorial look book - featuring some really nice garments from Lardini, Gran Sasso, Sonrisa, Dondup, Hansen, Mismo, Edwin and many others - will be launched later this month.

Through all of it's different variations roll neck (or turtle neck) sweater is probably my favorite piece of fall and winter clothing. As the weather keeps getting colder I could easily start wearing these 7 days a week in case it was possible. The one pictured is made by Gran Sasso (available via Sauma)

I wear suede shoes 12 months a year but just recently I took a couple pairs of suede chukka boots from the storage back in rotation to be used again. No matter if it is sunny, a bit windy or even rainy, suede will cover you in all occasions. And basically it will just get better after it gets worn and creates some nice patina.

The Swedish boutique Spiga3 just launched some really nice overcoats by G.Abo Napoli - Made in Italy of Loro Piana’s Zelander wool - at their webstore. Perfect to wear together with your suits and sport coats or then just with those heavy roll neck sweaters and denim.
