Isaia @ Pitti Uomo 87

Starting the Pitti Uomo reviews from last weeks fair with ISAIA that this time at their booth came up with a display which probably provoked debate among the visitors at least as much as the collection itself - as the walls of the booth were decorated with “paintings” featuring the erotic art and frescoes of Pompeii, presenting the theme “Eros in Pompeii”

Isaia fall and winter 2015  - mosaic inspiration

As the paintings on the walls of the boot - the collection itself finds inspiration in the beautiful textures and remarkable hues of the frescoes and mosaics of Pompeii. In terms of patterns and looks the inspiration is shown through bold checks featured in overcoats, jackets and suits through the collection that presents the tiles of these mosaics that are individually compelling but especially in unison create as said by themselves - something phenomenal.

In terms of colors  there are two that forms the core of the collection - a rustic shade of ochre and a muddy blood red, known also as the Red Pompeiano. In addition there are of course blue, grey and green - all quite obvious for Isaia - and then there are multiple pieces in purple - a color suitable for any man’s fall wardrobe. For a second time in a row in my eyes - in terms of the color Isaia plays it better with fall and winter collection than with the spring and summer one - that was much more based on bright colors that are hard to pull off such as yellow, pink and turquoise.

Despite the display -which everyone is free to form an opinion - the collection is familiar and safe Isaia. Bold pattern matching, beautiful textures and interesting features of little details.
