To start the weekend and the new month, here’s 5 points to give inspiration and take you through the dark nights based on some pics and points I’ve come up and been inspired myself recently. 1) Play of textures Fall is maybe the most “giving” and diversed time for playing with different textures, colors and materials especially in terms of accessories. (the cashmere selection at the Drake’s London Haberdasher Factory shop) 2) Shades of gray Remember that grey doesn’t have to be dark and lifeless. The lousy days of November can also be faced with sharp and elegant combinations featuring the color - as done here by Mr. Ignatious Joseph. Many men who have interest in shoes probably know who is “The Shoe Snob” aka Justin Fitzpatrick. Last week while visiting London I decided to go and meet the guy and at the same time take one of my pairs to get some little “facelift”. To put it shortly, after his entrepreneurship studies Justin packed his bags, headed to Italy and started to get trained as a shoemaker with famous Stefano Bemer in Florence. After a year of apprenticeship and hard learning of bespoke shoemaking the man headed to UK, started his own blog and got to set up a shoeshine stand at Gieves&Hawkes on Savile Row No. 1 in London. After two years of work and a lot of polishing,...
In case it’s not about work (or Pitti / some other #menswear related occasion) I like to go rather casual while traveling and holidays. I don’t really feel a need for example to wear a suit or a tie on my “free-time” and if possible I usually opt for light colored denim, simple button-ups & sweaters (nowadays crew necks) or rollnecks, sometimes maybe a “lightweight”, unstructured sport coat . Just as here, which is actually the fit I was wearing on my last day in London last week. This was also my first wear of the Barbour SL Bedale jacket that I bought during my visit @Trunk Clothiers. The jacket is a slimmed-down, shortened version of Barbour’s classic riding jacket, originally designed...
Since I got back from London last Tuesday the week has been more or less hectic. So more detailed reviews of the places I had a pleasure to visit (Drake’s London, Wildsmith, Trunk Clothiers and The Shoe Snob) coming up later on but here’s few outtakes from the trip to freshen up the Sunday. J. Fitzpatrick footwear and my own pair getting a quick shine by the man himself. Glanshirt button-up shirts @Trunk clothiers In the front of Trunk LABS, wearing Tombolini gilet, Lardini jacket, Schoffa shirt and tie, pocket square from Sauma & bracelets by Viola MIlano & D.C.I Sweden) Trinity loafer by Wildsmith shoes. A pair of these coming my way soon. More options from Wildsmith. From left to...
Heading to London for a few days. On the list there’s at least… 1) Wildsmith shoes Eager to see the whole collection in real. 2) Drake’s London The shop at Clifford Street has always been a regular visit for me while my stays in London. Now looking forward to see the new Haberdasher Street Shop as well. 3) The Shoe Snob / J. Fitzpatrick @ Gieves & Hawkes Savile Row Justin is definitely one the most talented guys in the industry. This time I gonna take one of my pairs for him to give it one hell of a shine and care treatment. Also nice to check out the first range of his personal label footwear. 4) Trunk Clothiers and...
