Best of Pitti Uomo 89

For Thursday throwback and some inspiration I decided to pick few shots featuring outfits I personally wanted to highlight as "best of Pitti Uomo". One noteworthy thing regarding the fair this year was the fact that the amount of photographers was smaller than during previous seasons. Or at least I dare to claim so. This was also evident in such a way that it was hard to find pictures from the day during the week Pitti Uomo was held. Normally the first sets of photos have been around already on the first night of the fair. Luckily it seems however that after the fair pics from Florence have started to appear from various sources. Karl-Edwin Guerre is not just one...

Cashmere sport coat - 5 options

Today taking a look of cashmere sport coats. Usually when talking about sport coats, in terms of materials the focus is on wool, cotton and linen or in the mix of these. And there are several reasons for this. But cashmere should not be dropped out of discussions. After all it is a king of cloths. Even though spring and summer collections are already hitting the stores the winter is still on. And even though it seems that we have got some warmer days here in Finland recently I bet there is still some colder weeks coming up. Therefore I decided to make a little update to the post from last winter. Cashmere – what is it all about? To put...

Brown tie with blue blazer

Brown and blue are always a safe choice. Brown tie with a blue blazer is a combination one can't really miss with. But is it possible to build an outfit appropriate for business occasion by using just these two colors. Or by using these two colors in the upper half of the ensemble to be exact. Note to self - make sure your pocket square stays deep enough in the pocket. Woolen brown tie with blue flannel blazer First of all, in terms of ties wool is a material that I personally prefer due to its versatility. In addition to shantung silk and grenadine ties woolen ties, especially more lightweight ones, are among those type of ties that can be...

Peacoat - Casentino wool by Bastong

Today taking a look of my new Bastong peacoat. Peacoat is one of those classic (casual) outerwear pieces every man should have in his wardrobe. It's been years since I last had one but now that deficiency has been corrected. The coat by Bastong however is not just another ordinary peacoat but one made of dark navy Italian casentino wool. Bastong peacoat - and the care label. Pea coat in a nutshell In terms of history of the peacoat, several differing versions are told. Some say that it was in the first place designed for “reefers”, in other words for the sailors who had to climb the riggings of sailing ships. Some guys dates the origin of the peacoat to the early 18th...

Pitti Uomo 89 - day 2 and 3

Pitti Uomo 89 and week in Italy is over. First a few more hectic days in Florence. Then a couple of relaxing days in Milan. More detailed reviews and thoughts are coming up - starting next week. But before that a short sneak peek to what I wore for the days 2 and 3. Ready for the second day at Pitti Uomo 89. I wasn't the only one trusting windowpane. Checking out some really beautiful and lightweight woolen pocket squares - made in Italy. As well as for the first day, for the second day of the fair I chose to wear a full suit. This time it seemed that for days my outfits were more on the formal side...
