Vaatturiliike Sauma - web store now open

Finally (just in time before the black Friday and Christmas) it has happened as Sauma just today opened their web shop @ http://shop.vaatturiliikesauma.fi/ The selection of the web store covers most of the items available at the store though there are some exceptions. For example shoes and accessories are excluded at this point. The brand selection includes names (and pieces) that partly are not so commonly and widely found online such and Gran Sasso, Sonrisa and Berwich. In addition there are sport coats by Lardini, overcoat and suits by Tagliatore outerwear by Herno and knits by John Smedley.   Congrats to Olli and Tuomo for the launch and congrats for everyone that now are able to get their share from their selection....

20/2014 - Flannel Monday details

Seems that time for (grey) flannel is here again. Pretty often my weeks are scheduled so that most of meetings are placed in the beginning of the week, i.e most of Mondays I go with a full suit and yesterday made no exception. Suit featuring Vitale Barberis flannel is made-to-measure by Sauma (Private Label), soft collar button-up shirt by Mastai Ferretti and the cashmere tie & tiger-printed pocket square by Drake’s London. Black doudble-monks, which I got via A Fine Pair Of Shoes and which despite the color have become one my favorites are made by Alfred Sargent. Wallet from Chester Mox and shades by Balenciaga.

DLA - October inspiration

As it’s already October one can say that the fall is eventually now here and winter is starting to be pretty near. Days are getting shorter and the amount of light decreases significantly. On the other hand it means that one can get the overcoats and more heavier suits & sport coats from the closet and start to play with layers again.  Starting the week with a few things and pics that I’m personally inspired by and enthusiastic at the moment. When it comes to ties one can pretty easily go with basic rotation of silk ties (including knit ties, grenadines and shantung for example) through the year. But having some seasonal additions is a good and easy way to make...

2014 - Late night Monday details

Started the week in the office with something between formal and casual, wearing my new made-to-measure suit from Sauma. Very satisfied with the result - a two-piece suit made of middle grey (semi) lightweight wool fabric with light blue and brown overcheck. Jacket of the suit is a single-breasted, features 2 patch pockets, 3-roll-2 buttoning and a little roped shoulders. More detailed review (and video) regarding the suit coming up. Wanted to keep the ensemble quite light colored, so picked a white merino wool turtle neck and pocket square (The unicorn square by Drake’s is still my favorite one) & shoes in shades of brown. Based on pictures it seems that my shoes could also use some welt edge dressing for...

Vaatturiliike Sauma - 10 years of tailoring and menswear

Last Wednesday Vaatturiliike Sauma hosted a nice cocktail party, celebrating their 10-year anniversary. What would be better than have few drinks, enjoy good food and be around like-minded people with the same passion and interest. One more time congrats to Olli and Tuomo, not just extremely talented tailors, but most of all great guys and friends who have done a huge job to bring further the #menswear-scene and men’s clothing in Finland. And be sure there’s more to come, so stay tuned and keep an eye on these fellows. My focus was more on enjoying the party than playing with my camera but anyway, here’s few shots and details from Wednesday-evening.  And one last shot via instagram. Wearing (if someone...
