Parka jackets for fall and winter

When days get colder the need for a decent overcoat also grows. One option to consider is a parka (or anorak) jacket. Parka jacket is a type of coat with a hood often lined with fur or faux fur. The hood protects the face from freezing temperatures and wind. I wrote about about parka jackets about a year ago. Now is a good time to make a little update and review the topic again. Even though the words parka and anorak are sometimes used as synonyms, they still are somewhat different garments. Anorak is a waterproof, hooded, waist-length and sometimes pull-over jacket featuring possible drawstrings at the waist and cuffs. Parka on the other hand is a knee-length more or less cold-weather coat. Parka is also typically stuffed with down or very...

Bastong - outstanding outerwear

Korean brand Bastong was established in 2011. The company started as non-seasonal brand focusing on outerwear but has nowadays expanded their range to cover full range of clothing and accessories. Today taking a bit closer look of the brand and their selection for the season. I came across Bastong for the first time in June 2013 as I walked through their booth at Pitti Uomo. At that time they had five overcoats to present, nothing more. I've been writing about the upcoming change for quite a few times during the last couple of months but now it is real and DLA has got a new layout and facelift. As you can see, the new site is now up and running. I wanted to drop the tumblr as the main platform for the blog as I personally think it does not fit the purpose of the site and my posts anymore. The new DLA-site is still under construction and there will be some changes - a few minor things coming up sooner and then some bigger changes coming up later on. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions for improvements - please be kind and let me...

Blue jersey sport coat with corduroy trousers

If there ain't any particular reason, I personally don't really feel like wearing ties on my free time. Sometimes however there are occasions where you need go for "smart casual"-look. Even though you would not have to. Today I show you how to do it by combining blue jersey sport coat with corduroy trousers. The term "smart casual" can be interpreted in various ways. The definition can change, depending on several factors, including geography, climate, culture, and of course the nature of occasion. In terms of business wear, however, the "smart casual" dress code is a step up from "business casual," but not as formal as "boardroom attire." It's neat and professional €” but still informal. When it comes to parties,...

Laszlo Vass - handmade shoes from Hungary

Laszlo Vass is probably a familiar name for anyone interested of men's quality footwear. If you ask from anyone who has ever been in touch with the menswear-scene, you will most likely get the same answer. Vass is widely recognized as maker of one of the best shoes available on the market. Mr. Vass himself is also known as the co-author of his exceptional book "Handmade shoes for men". It had for quite a while been on my list. But finally earlier in the summer I got in hand my first ever pair of Laszlo Vass shoes. After quite long consideration I made up my mind. Instead of going for some of the most iconic Vass models such as Budapester derby...
