Suitsupply just launched their pre-order selection for this fall and winter season. The selection features multiple nice, basic pieces ranging from gray flannel suits to navy blue blazers, wool slacks and classic overcoats. I will cover the collection in more detail soon but first a short glimpse featuring a few pieces from the collection - all put together into one outfit. Wool-cashmere sport coat in rusty orange is a perfect piece for those upcoming colder fall days - restrained yet refined choice that combined with the off-white wool slacks forms an ultimate look for the season. Light blue button-down shirt is a safe bet and in case you want that little "sprezz" - just leave the collar buttons unbuttoned. Brown...
Italian Gran Sasso is one of my personal favorite knitwear makers on the market. Company's garments are made - in Italy - from finest materials to combine tradition with innovation and ancient craftsmanship with modern production processes. As said by themselves "quality is always fashionable". A detail worth of notice is that even you may not have any pieces labeled as “Gran Sasso” it does not mean you could not own one made by them as the company produces garments for multiple more and less known quality-brands and also for many shops for their “private label”-collections. Gran Sasso fall and winter 2014 The selection of Gran Sasso includes not just “basic” knitwear but also (double-sided) vests, suede featured & down lined...
Shawl collars are mostly associated with either knitwear (shawl collar cardigans) or formal wear (tuxedos). Sometimes it is used in military inspired coats but rarely seen as a feature of sport coats or "classic" overcoats. Today taking a look of something a bit different. Last January at Pitti Uomo, Italian "newcomer" The GIGI presented their collection for this fall and winter season (read more about the collection here) and as I mentioned then the use of shawl-collars that was repeated both in blazers and outerwear was definitely a stand-out-detail that absolutely aroused my interest. Recently pieces from The GIGI were featured at Japanese online magazine bronline.jp. The use of shawl collar brings a nice touch of casualness and coziness to otherwise...
Fall and winter collection by Italian Montecore - which includes parkas, down jackets, bomber jackets and classic overcoats interpreted in their own unique way - is build around blue, grey and green. The collection relies on traditional tailoring combined with the most modern technology in terms of materials and processing the fabrics. Cashmere and wool are combined with technical and water & wind repellent materials. In terms of aesthetics and personality the look book may not be the most inspiring one there is for the season but at least attention has been given to where it belongs - to the clothes. This parka is probably my favorite from the collection. Filled with goose down, made of water repellent fabric together with tone...
As it’s already October one can say that the fall is eventually now here and winter is starting to be pretty near. Days are getting shorter and the amount of light decreases significantly. On the other hand it means that one can get the overcoats and more heavier suits & sport coats from the closet and start to play with layers again. Starting the week with a few things and pics that I’m personally inspired by and enthusiastic at the moment. When it comes to ties one can pretty easily go with basic rotation of silk ties (including knit ties, grenadines and shantung for example) through the year. But having some seasonal additions is a good and easy way to make...
