In my opinion, (suede) loafer is the ultimate summer shoe. Loafers in general, especially penny loafer is a model that is a classic but has also become increasingly popular among footwear manufacturers (and #menswear aficionados) recently. One of the best features when talking about loafers is the versatility as they can be combined with shorts in summer on one day and paired with a suit on another. Some wear them sockless some add personal style by using socks with multiple colors and patterns. Lasts summer the news was that Italian Loro Piana had decided to sell a majority stake in the business to Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton LVMH and the sale was finally completed last December. Another breaking news regarding the brand was published in December when it was announced that Mr Sergio Loro Piana, one of two brothers that took over the business after their father in the 1970s, and who continued to develop the brand and really expanded it into the luxury retail markets, had passed away at the age of 65.
