3x suede loafers for summer

In my opinion, (suede) loafer is the ultimate summer shoe.  Loafers in general, especially penny loafer is a model that is a classic but has also become increasingly popular among footwear manufacturers (and #menswear aficionados) recently. One of the best features when talking about loafers is the versatility as they can be combined with shorts in summer on one day and paired with a suit on another. Some wear them sockless some add personal style by using socks with multiple colors and patterns. Finally some want their loafers in brown calf leather so that they can create a nice patina, some prefer suede and for one black patent leather is the right choice. As said, loafers are a perennial menswear...

#tyylit-inspiration for summer season

Every Sunday we try to do an inspirational round-up via tyylit.fi-tumblr - based on the pics that I’ve come across during the week or by digging some nice stuff from the archives. This time I decided to pick few things from there to highlight things I find inspirational at the moment. Lightweight sport coat… Wrote a while ago about sport coats for the spring and summer (find it from here). I’m really a fond of double-breasted jackets and this one by G.Abo Napoli (available via Spiga3, which just also started their summer sale today) is one of the nicest I’ve seen for this season. Light colored, soft shapes and featuring bold but still low-key windowpane pattern. White shirts… White shirt is...

THE GIGI F/W ´14 lookbook preview

A while ago, after Pitti Uomo 85 I wrote about THE GIGI, a “newcomer” on the market. The GIGI is a project by Mario and Pierluigi Boglioli who with this new label want to experiment, research and to create new innovations in terms of materials, processing techniques and finishes. Recently I just got a glimpse of their upcoming look book which - even though it’s almost summer - I wanted to share. The pictures seen below really nicely showcase the collection that’s build on softness, maximum comfort, rough textures and sporty feelings without making any compromises in terms of quality. The softness and treatments of fabrics used along with the high degree of handwork invested in each piece results in a...

Loro Piana S/S 2014

Lasts summer the news was that Italian Loro Piana had decided to sell a majority stake in the business to Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton LVMH and the sale was finally completed last December. Another breaking news regarding the brand was published in December when it was announced that Mr Sergio Loro Piana, one of two brothers that took over the business after their father in the 1970s, and who continued to develop the brand and really expanded it into the luxury retail markets, had passed away at the age of 65. S/S ´14 I’ve said it before, personally I'm a big fan of the company and their overall aesthetics, but especially fond of their look books featuring beautiful and most inspiring illustrations. Field jackets, suede...

5 x Notes for November

To start the weekend and the new month, here’s 5 points to give inspiration and take you through the dark nights based on some pics and points I’ve come up and been inspired myself recently. 1) Play of textures Fall is maybe the most “giving” and diversed time for playing with different textures, colors and materials especially in terms of accessories. (the cashmere selection at the Drake’s London Haberdasher Factory shop) 2) Shades of gray Remember that grey doesn’t have to be dark and lifeless. The lousy days of November can also be faced with sharp and elegant combinations featuring the color - as done here by Mr. Ignatious Joseph.
