Eton shirts F/W ´13 @ Pitti Uomo

“Tradition of excellence” Two more F/W ´13 collection reviews from Pitti Uomo 83 left before starting to get ready for the next fair in June and collections for next spring and summer. The first one of these two left is Swedish Eton shirts. Eton is probably one of the best known shirt brands in Finland and in the whole Scandinavia. This is easily explained by the fact that there are very many retailers that have Eton in their selection but also by the reason that there’s not many Scandinavian manufacturers in the menswear-scene that could really compete with the brands coming from Italy, Great-Britain, US or Japan for example. However Eton is one of them. If I need to find one...

Meet up with Passaggio Cravatte

In January during Pitti Uomo I had a pleasure to meet with Gianni Cerutti , a young man from Robbio, Italy. Gianni is a guy with a truly passion for ties and he is also the man behind the bespoke tie company “Passaggio Cravatte”. Gianni says he finds his inspiration from the past and old archives and describes his own style to be much of a dandy-like; elegant and classic but with a touch of “funny and perceptible” elements included. Luca Giusto & Giusto Bespoke

In January, before traveling to Pitti Uomo I got an invite from Luca to come and visit his showroom while staying in Florence. Even though the days there are pretty busy and mostly dedicated to going around the fair I was more than happy to take the chance and opportunity and pay Giusto Bespoke a visit. The company run by Luca (who can be said has learned from the best as he worked years for Liverano before starting a business) has been going now for a bit more than three years. It is mainly concentrated on ties and shirts (both handmade) but offers as well an exclusive bespoke tailoring services for private clients. Most of the ties are seven-folds but they also...

Lardini F/W ´13 @ Pitti Uomo 83.

Lardini definitely came up with one of the most interesting and inspiring mixture of patterns and textures presented at Pitti. The collection combines British classic style with Italian lightness, soft shapes and exclusive fabrics inspired by the old archives and a result of a long and multi-stage treatment processes. Nicely use of muted colors mixed with a bit more bold accents such as yellow ocher and red brick. A lot of layering (I personally like a lot the way Laridini presents its collection) and versatile mix of outerwear, suits and especially jackets that are suitable and editable for various occasions, both formal and casual. See the “sneak peek” posted earlier here.
