Last week Berg&Berg launched the first releases of their new spring and summer collection. Once again there’s bunch of interesting stuff that really draws attention and are definitely worth checking out. In the new tie collection classic grenadines are complimented with self striped silk ties that are crafted from" fil a fil silk (a jacquard fabri woven with two double twisted silk threads), multiple linen ties and finally a bit more special, untipped cotton seersucker versions. In terms of pocket squares the absolute ace for the season are the fresh and summery cotton squares featuring floral prints, nice option to wear with your unstructured cotton and linen jackets. For knitwear Berg&Berg has two new versions for the summer. First of all a basic round neck sweater, knitted...
The guys at Sauma just today started their mtm-days that will take place the next two weeks. What makes it interesting is that they just got a new supplier for their private label suiting that based on pictures and examples I’ve seen is looking more than promising. It seems that there are some fabrics available that would make a great summer sport coats and suits. Green is the new black. This as double-breasted jacket w/ patch pockets would be awesome with some with cotton slacks. This summer gonna be about checks? Inspirational “look book” featuring examples of fabrics (even shirt fabrics) and how to combine them. This can make the decision-making really easy. Or just harder… Sale tip In addition the...
New project by the Boglioli brothers “New ideas surround us everywhere, yet keen instincts are required to understand them and capture their essence. We are curious, passionate, attentive and naturally love to seek out new things, without ever falling head over heels over them.” This is how Boglioli brothers Mario and Pierluigi started their letter sent before Pitti Uomo 85 in January, where the first collection of newly invented brand Gigi was presented. They both earlier sold their shares in the company that still bears their name - but now they are back in business. By their own words they want to experiment and research to create new innovations in terms of materials, processing techniques and finishes and the collection seen in...
The update rate of the blog has recently been pretty slow. And there’s a reason for that. As many people know I’ve been working with a project called #tyylit.fi for quite a while now. First we launched a forum in the beginning of 2013 and since that we’ve also been working with the idea of a new site that would fill the empty space we think there has been in the #menswear-scene in Finland. And finally last Friday we got it launched. There’s still a lot of work to do when it comes to the layout and little details but still I couldn’t be happier with the result we’ve so far come up with. However it has taken a big...
Opumo just recently took a huge leap as they expanded their collection from various accessories to cover casual footwear as well. And not only did they bring one or two models available but multiple choices from 6 different brands (Sanders, Grenson, Mark Mcnairy, Buttero, Sperry Top-Sider and YMC) Decided to pick few of my favorites from the launched selection. Buttero blue suede low sneakers Exclusive to Opumo for spring-summer ´14 this pair features Italian suede uppers, leather laces, metal eyelets and off-white rubber soles. Suitable with light colored denim or white cotton slacks for example, my absolute favorite from the collection.
